“Six feet of snow had just fallen around Lake Tahoe, CA, so Jack Demain, Ryan Stojanovich and I woke up early in hopes of beating the traffic through Carson Pass. Only a few miles from the house we found that two avalanches had blown out the only road south. Avalanche danger was too high to ride the backcountry safely, so we turned to driving my Mitsubishi Delica van around the neighborhood and building side hits along the streets. It ended up being one of the most fun days of the season.” Photo: Matt Foley
