Pete Alport

Born and raised in Portland, OR, Pete Alport moved to Bend, OR in 1994. He fell in love with videography after the purchase of his first video camera in 1997 and, after college and two years in sales, he returned to videography. He has since traveled the world shooting skiing and snowboarding for multiple production companies for over 15 years. In that time, he has honed his skills as a professional photographer. Although videography and photography are the main staples of his business, another passion of his is designing and building snow features—not just in the terrain park, but in the backcountry, as well as in urban settings. Follow his work on instagram @Pete_Alport.

Jess Kimura

Jess Kimura is a professional snowboarder, producer and filmmaker based out of Squamish, BC. Fiercely passionate about providing opportunities for up-and-coming female talent, in 2018 she created, filmed and produced The Uninvited, an all-girls snowboard video that garnered international attention. Maria Thomsen, one of the standout riders from that project, got an invite to X Games Real Snow the following season and earned an interview in this issue, which she sees as evidence that giving girls a chance to shine is worth the effort. Jess splits her time between exploring western Canada in the winter and living in a truck camper in Baja during the summer, dreaming up new projects and surfing terribly.

Alex Pashley

Alex Pashley was born in Ann Arbor, MI but moved to Colorado by the time he was 3 years old, so he’s “basically a ’rado native.” After skiing for a few years, Alex started snowboarding in 1986 and never went back. Snowboarding has allowed him to travel the world over the past 30 years through jobs with Salomon, Rossignol, Dragon, and now Smartwool. These days, he splits time between Steamboat Springs, CO and Driggs, ID with his wife, Erin, and their Bernese mountain dogs. When not on snow he is known to run stupid distances on trails, tomahawk on his mountain bike and talk endless shit on Instagram.

Lee Rosen

Lee Rosen grew up in the suburbs of Chicago but was drawn to the cold, snowy hills of Wisconsin at an early age, and was frequently found skiing at Alpine Valley. After a mind-expanding era at Oberlin College, he headed east, eventually leading to a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Vermont. Now an assistant professor in psychiatry and the Director of Student Wellbeing at the Larner College of Medicine at UVM, Dr. Rosen lives with his family in lovely Richmond, VT, and happily scurries to Bolton Valley and Sugarbush to snowboard enthusiastically, if not gracefully.

Valerie St-Arnaud

After growing up in Quebec, Valerie St-Arnaud moved to Whistler, BC in 2013. Although she found the big mountains intimidating, she found a good crew and began to document their riding. Soon, she launched Calling Mountains Productions with a few friends. The business has since evolved into much more than just capturing snowboarders—she now produces films for a variety of purposes in the Sea to Sky corridor, including the preservation of First Nations culture and language. Follow her on Instagram @callingmountains.
