“Rob Morrow’s story is a great one. He won the Junior World Cup Snowboard Championship in the late ’80’s riding for SIMS Snowboard before starting his own snowboard company, Morrow Snowboards. Rumor has it he used the weight of his Toyota 4Runner on the board molds to press the first-edition Morrow Blaze. Fast-forward into the early ’90s and snowboarding’s explosive growth. Rob was the best snowboarding CEO of any of the snowboarding brands at the time. He won the Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom, had smooth surf style in powder and a powerful skate style, which is illustrated in this shot. Born and raised in nearby Salem, OR, Rob knew Mt. Bachelor well. This day in 1996 we powered over the pass to catch the storm. Jake Hauswirth, one of Rob’s best friends and bandmate in Sideways People, is on the left side of the shot holding the remote flash. I would call that role Strobi-Wan Kenobi.” Photo and Caption: Trevor Graves
