CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT I’ve heard the saying “the grass is always greener on the other side” a mil-lion times, but it was demonstrated most judiciously by a goat munching on grass in a true no-fall zone about 30 feet below where we’re standing. Teatime was the only time things got hot and steamy in the van. Long hair, intentionally aloof and with a penchant for grass—Highland cattle and snowboarders have more in common than one might think. When Griogair Labhruidh isn’t singing or bagpiping with Afro Celt Sound System, he’s at home on his croft (a small farm) that he’s dubbed the “Cow Palace.” We were welcomed into the Cow Palace with open arms, open beers and live music to soothe our souls.
