“Jim Zellers ripped the Norman Clyde couloir first. Confident about the snowpack and conditions, Nick Russell (first), Danny Davis (second/left) and Jeremy Jones (last/center) party rode the entire line to the apron. Coverage and conditions like this were found throughout the Sierra to relatively low elevations for most of the winter. Every week that we had a window, we would hit something new and never left without a full-value outing and searching for our next objective. Every drainage, every summit and every line offered new perspective that allowed us to continually add to the hit list. Each success brought new ideas and objectives, but perhaps more importantly, confidence to ride them in prime conditions.” Photo: Ming Poon 052 THE SNOWBOARDER’S JOURNAL
