Jesse Huffman and Tomas Ruprecht on the West Chin of Mount Mansfield during a temperature inversion back in January 2017. Days like this only happen a couple of times a year, if at all. When we got to the mountain, it was overcast and dark. I was meeting Tomas, Jesse and Shem Roose. I was early so I hopped on the gondola to take a lap. Nearing the top of the mountain, it started getting lighter. A few hundred feet from the top I popped out of the clouds into a bluebird day with an ocean of clouds and mountain-peak islands in the distance. I took my run and met the crew in the parking lot eager to start our hike to the top and across part of the ridge. When we got up there, we took our time and soaked in the rare natural phenomena. We had an amazing run down and felt super high on life. Shem and Jesse had to leave, but Tomas and I stayed to catch the sunset from the top. NATHANAEL ASARO 043
