CLOCKWISE FROM TOP My favorite photos are always shot for no reason other than creativity. I had scoped this zone in the Blackcomb, BC backcountry and thought it would be easy to set up some strobes at sunset then ride down with our headlamps on. Ben Poechman has super consistent style, especially on pillows like this. I knew he could smash it out before it got really dark. This was the first try, the flashes worked perfectly, and we didn’t have to spend too long to get it right. Sebbe De Buck atop Birthday Bowl, psyching. We had three days to ride with Kazu Kokubo while filming a movie for Coal Headwear in Hokkaido, Japan. He showed us everything from his favorite restaurants to his favorite places to ride and he loved to joke around.
