Le Massif is a sick mountain—it’s the highest in Quebec, and we would get decent powder days. The side hits were really fun and we knew every inch of that hill. Some of the ski patrollers called us ‘ les chevreuils ’ which in French means ‘deer,’ because we were always getting caught riding illegal tree runs.” Photo: Marie-France Roy Archives 02 “Frontside 360 on Blackcomb’s Horstman Glacier at age 19. I was living in my car in the parking lot of the Boot Pub and only bought one ticket to go ride the public park on the glacier. The photo was taken that day.” Photo: Marie-France Roy Archives 03 “The squad: Alex, Jean and me. We have just over a year between each of us, so we were really close. They taught me so much. Growing up in the middle of nowhere in Les Éboulements, QC and playing outside with these two is probably what shaped me the most. They were always building stuff, doing mechanics, riding bikes and dirt bikes, pulling each other on a snowboard with a car into jumps in the backyard. One day they had built a huge drop-in ramp from the roof of our house to hit this gap jump. Our dad was so pissed, but he ended up letting it happen. I love them all so much.” Photo: Marie-France Roy Archives 04 04 05 50-50 in Quebec, circa 2006. Whoops! I never podiumed at any US Opens or X Games, so this must have been some cash from the rail jam or a fourth-place finish.” Photo: Marie-France Roy Archives MARIE-FRANCE ROY 083
