“January 2020, right after a snowfall at the Zillergründl Dam. The snow melts quickly and runouts don’t last long, so you want to hit them while it’s fresh. On this day it was very cold and Wolle needed some time to access the platform to start his line. It was the first time he was trying the looker’s left side of Zillergründl. It’s steep and narrow and worked out well on the first two tries, but he wasn’t happy with his layback on the wall. The third attempt ended in a huge slam after Wolle caught a hard chunk of icy snow. But Wolle is a warrior, and a few days later he was back on the horse—at 42 years old, no less.” Photo: David Vladyka
