ABOVE LEFT The house I grew up in during the late ’90s and early 2000s in Greensboro Bend, VT. The house is now abandoned, and this image was taken in summer 2014. Ryan Perryman, Johnny Noel and I used to snowboard off the roof dur-ing good snow years. You could drop off the triangle on the top into the side of the dome. I have many good memories of my childhood spent running around outside and exploring the woods around the house. ABOVE RIGHT Self-portrait at one of my favorite overlooks in Vermont. I had gone to a birthday party there in grade school, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I found it again. I have been taking trips to this view for the past three autumns during peak foliage to shoot photos. It’s an easy hike and has one of the best views in the state. BELOW I have been riding with Ryan Perryman since my first day on a snowboard in 1998. He taught me to snowboard and showed me the ropes at Stowe, VT. One thing I’ve learned about him is he likes to keep his flow going. He would rather have a consistent run than stop frequently to get photos. To me that’s pure love for snowboarding and I have so much respect for that. On this day in January, I was able to snap a few shots of Ryan. I had been first through the chute and had time to get out my camera to catch him coming out at the bottom. His riding is so calculated and smooth, I always seem to get a good shot of him when I get the chance. 040 THE SNOWBOARDER’S JOURNAL
